Buying/Commissioning Artwork [Nov. 12th, 2020|11:06 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

If you're interested in purchasing a painting from me, or commissioning a piece, here are a few general guidelines to make this easy and confusion-free:

  1. Decide what you want. If it's a piece of mine that has been painted yet and not sold, either leave a comment on my journal or send me an email at contact@nikarnoldi.com ... I get LJ comments faster than emails if it's shortly after I've posted the work, but it never hurts to send an email. The worst that could happen is that the piece is already sold.

  2. If you're commissioning a piece, I request that you send me an email with what you're interested in. If it's something specific, reference photos are helpful. If you'd like me to try to interpret your request, then use as many words as possible to describe what you want. If you just want to pay for a piece and see what I do with an abstract idea, that's perfectly fine with me.

  3. Next step is to put the payment down. If you're purchasing an already-painted piece, you've already got the go-ahead to put down all the money and I'll send the painting as soon as the check clears. If you're commissioning a piece, I require a $25 non-refundable deposit on the piece. This allows me to move forward and purchase supplies.

  4. If this is a commissioned piece, the next step for you is to be patient. Though I'm a very fast-paced and dilligent worker, it does take time to get a piece done. The average for an 18" by 24" piece is about a week's time, with results posted by my next blog update (unless of course this is a gift for somebody who may just so happen to stumble across my blog, which in that case you should let me know and I won't ruin the surprise). Regardless, I'll email you the day the painting is completed and photographed... which leads to the next step:

  5. Pay the rest in full. For the average 18" by 24" piece (which seems to be a standard size for me to work with), I request an extra $25 in shipping and handling. Once again, I'll mail off the piece once the check clears.

Payment options are via personal check, money order, or Paypal.

Checks are to be made out to Nik Arnoldi.

To send via Paypal, email the payment to countyfairproject@hotmail.com

In the meantime, enjoy!

I would like to commission art from you.
I want one of two things.
[1] An altered version of your Atlas concept tattoo you drew for me two years ago (I still have). Where it's more developed than a circle of swirlies :D

[2] A side piece tattoo. I really want to leave it up to you. The only suggestion I could offer is maybe Autumnal leaves or tree of some sort. I want nature incorporated somewhere on my body.

I love your art, and you know this. I want, in some way, for my body to be a masterpiece. I am willing to pay the down payment or sending some of the many children's books I got for you. If you don't want to do the first, it's okay, because I was going to get Dali's "Les Elephants"...but I really wanted to give your idea another try. I am willing to pay for your time and/or supplies. I don't need this in paint. I'll be happy with crayons.

I hope to hear from you. If you want pictures of either my back or side or measurements...please let me know.

I like this idea. Do you still have the atlas character I sent you? if you could email it to me, I'd be very grateful. (contact@nikarnoldi.com)

Also, if that idea falls through, the sidepiece would be a fun concept. So I'll take a look over the atlas character, but I'm leaning more towards the second option. If you'd send a measurement of how large you'd like this piece, I can work with it.

When it comes to tattoo art, your best bet is to shop around different tattoo parlors to find artists whose style may be similar to mine, or better. That's your best bet when it comes to getting it done right. :)

And we can settle the down-payment stuff when we start corresponding via email. I think my pricing will be relatively less expensive for this piece, and I'm certain I'll finish in better time than usual.

Hey Nik! :)

I'm taking an art course at the moment, and one of our current assignments is to do a piece on our fave artists. I chose you. There are questions that come with this assignment, though-where can I send them?

On a side note: I'm interested in a painting of Fred. He's becoming iconic to me, haha. :)

Wow, thanks!

You can email any and all questions to contact@nikarnoldi.com. I promise I'll respond as soon as possible.

I've got two commissions en queue right now, but as soon as my tasks free up, I'd love to create that for you! :)

Possible Commission Piece(s)

Hello Nik,

I came across your work some time ago, and I really love it. I am possibly interested in commissioning a piece (or maybe two depending on how it works out) as a Christmas present(s) for my mom.

What I would be interested in would be 24x18 (or larger, depending on what you can do,) and the painting would be of three dogs (a yellow lab, a chocolate lab, and a black lab.) The piece would have sentimental value for my mom because we lost our 15 year old chocolate lab in June, and now we have a yellow and a black one. What I was thinking is a single painting of the three of them together. Or, two paintings, one with the chocolate lab alone, and the other painting with the black and yellow labs.

I can’t send pictures right this second because I’m at work, but if you think this is something you would be interested in doing, I will be more than happy to send photos.

I was curious about your pricing, both for a single painting of the three dogs, and pricing for two separate paintings (one with the one dog, the other with two.)

And, of course a time frame. I live in Virginia in the States, so I’d say as long as I had them/it a week before Christmas, that would be good for me.

For reference, I looked through your work (on flickr,) and I liked the picture of the Beagle with the green background, and the Boston Terrier in the chair. What I’m thinking is the three dogs sitting together or something like that.

So please do let me know.

I’m sorry if this is confusing. I e-mailed you this as well.

hi nik,

i want to commission you for a piece. it's a christmas present for a dear friend (who is on LJ btw, so we'll try and keep this on the DL). he spent a lot of time in italy and is love with the landscape and women there (who wouldn't be?). i'd really like something that is tuscan/romantic and in a similar vein as your commissioned piece called "lightly".

whatcha think?

It can be done!

I'll make sure to keep the finished piece as Friends Only (unless he's on my FL, which in that case let me know!).

I would be pretty pumped to do something along those lines! Does he have any photos he took of the scenery while he was there?

Also, what size would you be looking for? I usually do around 16" by 20" for $125ish lately and 18" x 24" by $150 and on up by size. Let me know what you'd like!

Hey there...! I found you through the selfportraits community and I thought I would invite you to my community, creative_sp. I hope you don't mind - I'm not trying to "spam" at all, it's just that I joined that other community hoping to see some artistic self-expression, and for the most part found boring myspace-style vanity pics. I noticed your post and thought your creative eye might suit my community (creative_sp)! So, join if you're so inclined. I hope to get a fun, interesting, inspiring little community going :)

Hey Nik,
I love your art, it's amazing. I'm adding you because I want to stalk you keep an eye on your work. I'll probably buy some in future.
If I send you extra payment to make up the difference in shipping fees are you willing to mail to Australia?
Love your stuff. I try, and fail, at artmaking.

Love Sam.

Hey Nik! I've been off-and-on following your journal, but I finally just added you. First heard of you through the Love Story (like a lot of people, I'm sure), but your art really is incredible. I'm definitely considering a commission, but since I'm really indecisive I'm holding off until I know what I want. Keep up the beautiful, fantastic work!

Hey, thanks!

Yeah, we're both really happy that it's all finally working. I have to thank my muse for infusing my art with all the inspiration that I have been lacking in the time between. :)

Thanks again and let me know if there is anything I can do artistically for you!

accidentally removed me as a friend? :P

FOr some reason I couldn't respond to your last post, it said I didn't have permission.

anyway, here's what I said:

Just the ones that people give me.

Make a good portfolio of your work, and send it all over the country. Go to galleries and talk to the owners. Find niche art stores and see if they sell originals.

Look into making prints and the cost effectiveness of selling those, they're far easier to unload in some cases.

Make yourself an online portfolio (not to much stuff on it) with a bit about yourself, and include jobs you've done, places you've shown, etc.

Go to every first friday in your area and network with artists. Do every art charity/game/contest/etc that your area has (we have masterpiece in a day, and art vs art) and I know a lot of gallery owners. I donate art every chance I get for good causes.

Sometimes these things are hard to find, so find out if you have something like IDADA in your area (its an art networking site for Indiana, which I'm not a member of http://www.idada.org/) and join it.

(I've done very little of this, but I know thats what it takes around here to get things done. I'm not very ambitious)

Re: accidentally removed me as a friend? :P

Hey thanks!

I actually didn't remove you as a friend... I just made that entry private because I don't want all my friends to have to deal with my whiny posts. I was just kinda grumpy and needed to vent. But I'm glad you still replied with some advice!

I definitely am going to the First Friday tonight, with my head on about getting my work out there. I think I've got most of the other stuff checked off, but if I find out about Art vs Art type things or Masterpiece in a Day, I will totally get down on that.

Thank you so much!
